The Apostle Peter reminds us of an incredible truth: our redemption was not bought with just anything. He specifically says we were redeemed, "not with corruptible things, with silver or gold, from the useless way of life handed down from your fathers, but with precious blood, as of a lamb without blemish or spot, the blood of Christ." Think about that for a moment. Silver and gold are highly valued in Kampala and across the world, capable of buying many things. Yet, even the greatest fortune cannot purchase freedom from a life devoid of God's purpose.

Our spiritual freedom, our salvation, comes from a price far greater than any earthly wealth. It was paid by the perfect, unblemished blood of Jesus Christ. This means that God’s favour, His blessings, and His miraculous power are not commodities you can acquire through monetary transactions. Trying to buy a miracle or God's attention with money, or by sowing financial "seeds" to obligate Him, misunderstands the very nature of His grace and the completeness of Christ's sacrifice. Such acts inadvertently suggest that Jesus' shed blood wasn't quite enough, and that we need to add something of our own to secure God's blessings.

But the good news is that Jesus' sacrifice was absolutely sufficient. His blood was the ultimate payment, foreknown by God "before the foundation of the world," and revealed in our time for our benefit. This glorious act means that our salvation is a gift, not a transaction we initiate or supplement. Our trust should rest entirely on what Christ has already done for us, not on what we can offer Him financially or through any other human effort.

When we fully grasp that our redemption is secured by Christ's precious blood alone, it shifts our entire perspective. Our faith and hope are then firmly placed "in God," who raised Jesus from the dead and glorified Him. This truth liberates us from the burden of striving to earn what has already been freely given and reminds us that God’s love and power are boundless, not dependent on the size of our offering.
