We live in a culture that values the hustle. If you want to get ahead in Kampala, you work hard, negotiate constantly, or pay your way through. Unfortunately, we often bring this same transactional mindset into our spiritual lives. We easily fall into the trap of thinking we can buy our breakthrough by sowing financial seeds, or force God's hand by fasting. We treat God like a businessman who only moves when we pay a price. But the writer of Hebrews shows us a completely different reality.

In the old covenant, the priests had to work tirelessly without stop. The scripture says, "Every priest indeed stands day by day serving and often offering the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins". They could never sit down because their work was never truly finished; the blood of animals could never permanently wash away guilt. But Jesus changed the entire equation. The passage tells us that "he, when he had offered one sacrifice for sins forever, sat down on the right hand of God". His seated posture is a powerful declaration that the work of redemption is completely done.

When we run after modern shortcuts to God's favor, we are acting as if Jesus is still standing, waiting for us to finish the job. But the truth is that "by one offering he has perfected forever those who are being sanctified." You do not need to perform, pay, or struggle to make yourself acceptable to God. Your value and security are already fully secured in Christ's finished work. Today, we can stop the exhausting cycle of trying to earn God's love and simply rest in the grace He has already given us.
